Program Overview
Through Educators Abroad Ltd. Educators Visiting Educators (EAEVE) colleagues
from different educational settings work together, as equal partners, sharing ideas
and learning from and with each other.
EAEVE is based on the premises that:
- Educators gain valuable insights for their work by visiting and partnering with
a colleague in a setting different from their own.
- Even a short visit can result in a powerful learning experience with long term impact.
This is a simple idea that any educator can implement for themselves within the
local or neighboring community, or more distant location using contacts in their
own professional network.
Educators Abroad (EA) offers a wider range of contacts, through a worldwide network
of educators, to offer educators from most anywhere in the world opportunity to
visit and partner with a colleague working in another geographic, social, cultural,
economic, and/or political environment within or across national borders.
For Whom?
- Qualified teachers and school administrators, college and university teacher educators,
ministry/department of education employees, education policy makers and curriculum
developers.
- Educators seeking to be more effective by broadening their perspective on our global
profession of teaching through cross cultural professional experience.
- Individuals who will be welcomed guests of host colleagues and institutions.
Outcomes
EAEVE offers a valuable approach to the continuing education of professional
educators and policy makers through which host and visiting participants:
- Learn about education in another setting.
- Develop insights and strategies for use in fulfilling their professional responsibilities.
- Become better able to assure all children are prepared for life in an interdependent
world.
- Realize the value of learning from and with colleagues working in any educational
setting.
- Form continuing relationships that may include reciprocal visits through which the
original host becomes the guest.
- Recognize the worldwide commonality of educational issues and solutions.
- Act as members of a global profession by integrating a global perspective into educational
decision making.
